Background info on Startupbootcamp HightechXL, Eindhoven.

Over 250 teams applied for this year‘s inaugural program. In the end, 21 high tech startups were invited to Eindhoven from 10 countries. They presented and discussed their disruptive technology with investors, entrepreneurs, professors, and high-tech specialists. The ten winning teams will now join the 6 month accelerator program that starts on November 11th 2013.
Guus Frericks, CEO of Dutch Expansion Capital is one of the lead initiators behind Startupbootcamp HighTechXL. He says they have been amazed at the really high level of all these teams.

"We're used to slick pitches from those in the web and social media space. But these teams take real science you can touch and feel to the cutting edge. It reminds me that great hardware companies began as small teams with a passion to invent what most of us now take for granted. We've seen living proof today that it is still possible for dedicated teams to disrupt traditional industries. Demo Day quality before we've even started!"

The selection of the world’s best high tech startups began by screening 5000+ teams and actively approaching over 850 that fit the profile of the program.

The trip to the South-Eastern part of the Netherlands paid off for all the teams, even those who didn't get in this time.
Many team remarked that the pressure cooker environment of the two-day finals has been a "great learning experience".  Everyone gained insights to take home.

Startupbootcamp HightechXL has been the first to include a psychological analysis as part of the final assessment. "Understanding how teams perform under pressure helps both the teams and the evaluators understand group dynamics. Since personalities are Assessments like add value and are inaccessible to most startups,’ says Patrick Gabriëls of EY and one of the initiators of Startupbootcamp HighTechXL.
